An arbitration filing with the NFLPA states a "suspended employee of Rosenhaus Sports is alleging that the prominent agency owes him more than $1 million in commissions and compensatory damages." Rosenhaus Sports VP DANNY MARTOE "accuses brothers DREW and JASON ROSENHAUS of breach of contract and fraud." Martoe has worked with the agency since '05 but "is currently on administrative leave with pay" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 8/16).

STATE COLLEGE: Former NHLPA Exec Dir PAUL KELLY “is representing” the family of late Penn State football coach JOE PATERNO and some members of Penn State’s Board of Trustees in the case that has emerged from the child sex abuse scandal cover-up at the school. Kelly said, “I’ve never shied away from cases like this. As someone who practices white-collar and sports law and has been involved in NCAA matters, I welcome the opportunity” (GLOBE & MAIL, 8/17).

AROUND THE NFL: Saints QB DREW BREES on Thursday announced on Twitter the birth of his third son, whom he and his wife BRITTANY named CALLEN CHRISTIAN BREES (NOLA.com, 8/16)....Steelers LB LAMARR WOODLEY has "cut a check for $60,000 to Saginaw Public Schools so kids don't have to pay to play athletics." Saginaw students were "charged $75 a year to participate in sports, and that didn't sit well with Woodley" (DETROIT NEWS, 8/16)....Patriots QB TOM BRADY appears with a Doberman on the cover of fashion magazine V Man with the headline "Tom Brady: America's Alpha Dog" (BOSTON HERALD, 8/17)....MARIAH CAREY and NO DOUBT will be the openers for the NFL '12 kickoff game on Sept. 6. They will perform live from Rockefeller Plaza before the Giants-Cowboys game at MetLife Stadium (AP, 8/16)....Bears LB BRIAN URLACHER and actress JENNY MCCARTHY "have called it quits." McCarthy said, "Brian and I have decided to turn our romance into an amazing friendship" (PEOPLE.com, 8/16).

This is the "seventh summer in a row that Bryant has visited China" (LATIMES.com, 8/16)....The movie "EXPENDABLES 2" premiered Wednesday in Hollywood and an after-party, held at Drai's Nightclub atop the W Hotel, was attended by U.S. Gold Medal-winning Olympians RYAN LOCHTE, DESTINEE HOOKER, JESSICA STEFFENS and BRENDA VILLA (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 8/16)....The annual Astros Wives' Black Ties and Baseball Caps gala to benefit the Houston Area Women's Center was held Thursday night at Minute Maid Park (CHRON.com, 8/16).

IN MEMORY: OWSLEY BROWN FRAZIER, the great-grandson of Brown-Forman Corp Founder GEORGE GARVIN BROWN, died Thursday. Both the Univ. of Louisville and Bellarmine Univ. have athletic facilities named after Frazier, who used his fortune “to promote causes such as education, health care and athletics.” Frazier in December announced a $25M gift to UL, “the single biggest pledge” in the school’s history (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 8/17).
