ESPN finished with a 3.1 U.S. rating and 4.2 million viewers for the final round of the British Open on Sunday from 8:00am-1:55pm ET, which saw Ernie Els win by one stroke over Adam Scott, while Tiger Woods finished tied for third. Those figures mark ESPN’s best audience since it began airing all four rounds of the tourney in '10, but are below any figures when the event aired on ABC. The audience for the final round is up 35% and 30%, respectively, from a 2.3 rating and 3.2 million viewers for Darren Clarke’s win last year. ESPN also saw year-over-year growth among younger demos (Austin Karp, THE DAILY).
