Delay Of Game: NFL Pushes Back Start Of Late Doubleheader Games By 10 Minutes

The NFL is pushing back the kickoff of its Sunday late-afternoon doubleheader games by 10 minutes as a way to reduce overlap with the early afternoon games. That means that the games that had started at 4:15pm ET now will start at 4:25pm. The games that had started at 1:00pm and 4:05pm will remain in those time slots. The move may have an affect on NBC, which runs its "Football Night In America" pregame show from 7:00-8:15pm; with kickoff coming at 8:30pm. Time's for NBC's pregame show and kickoff will not change. The NFL says the afternoon time change would reduce the amount of overlaps by 66%. From '09-11, 44 1:00pm games ran into the 4:15pm games; with the new time, only 15 of those games would have been affected.
