Beach Blast: Myrtle Beach Tourism Assoc. To Title Sponsor Big South B'Ball Tourneys

The Big South Conference Thursday announced VisitMyrtyleBeach.com will be the new title sponsor of the men’s and women’s basketball tournament championships for the next three years. The games are scheduled to be held at Coastal Carolina Univ.’s new Student Recreation and Convocation Center. It will mark the first time the conference has played all tournament games in the same site since '02 (Big South). In South Carolina, Ryan Young reported the bid for CCU to host the games includes “a commitment of $50,000 in ticket revenue and was bolstered by bringing aboard the title sponsor and a marketing plan in which VisitMyrtleBeach.com will target some of its advertising in January and February toward promoting the Big South tournament” (Myrtle Beach SUN NEWS, 6/8).
