One of the Seahawks' offseason workouts “violated the stipulation that these offseason practices include no live contact, and as a result, the team lost two days of organized team activities this week,” according to Danny O’Neil of the SEATTLE TIMES. The team has canceled OTA practices today and tomorrow, and “also any offseason work scheduled for Friday.” Seahawks players "will be paid, but won't be allowed at the team facility.” The league did not specify what the violation was or when it occurred, "only that a workout included live contact.” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said, “We probably have stretched this limit, obviously, by this indication. I'm not surprised at that. We're as competitive as you can be. And we have a very young football team. Most of these guys have never been in an OTA practice" (SEATTLE TIMES, 6/6). Carroll said that the team “has not had a chance to view film to see how the league wants his team to conduct offseason workouts" under the new CBA. In Tacoma, Eric Williams wrote, "Perhaps the Seahawks are being used as the test case for the rest of the league,” as they are “the first team penalized by being docked practices under the new CBA” (THENEWSTRIBUNE.com, 6/5).
