Tigers, Blue Jays, Royals Seeing Home Attendance Up Over 20%
Three AL clubs are seeing average home attendance gains of over 20% through May 22, including the Tigers, whose attendance is up 35.8% at Comerica Park. Also seeing big gains are the Blue Jays (+22.4%) and the Royals (+21.4%). The Rangers top all AL clubs with 43,470 fans per game, up 17.7% from the same period last season. Meanwhile, three AL clubs are seeing double-digit percentage drops in attendance to date. Despite the offseason acquisition of 1B Albert Pujols, the Angels join the Twins and Indians as seeing attendance drop sharply with around a quarter of the season played. Listed below is team-by-team attendance for AL clubs through May 22, with comparisons to the same period last year. See yesterday's issue for NL attendance (THE DAILY).
