Marlins' Guillen Announces He Is "Done" With Twitter, Calls Social Site "Stupid"

Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen on Thursday “took to Twitter to type one final message to the nearly 240,000 people who follow him,” according to Coley Harvey of the South Florida SUN-SENTINEL. Guillen wrote, "My last tweet. Me ultimo tweet. Good luck buena suerte." Guillen before the Marlins game against the Braves Thursday said, "Yeah, I hate Twitter. Everybody following me can (expletive) his pants. You can quote me on that one. … Don't follow me anymore. Twitter is a stupid thing. I never make money out of that. When you speak Spanish, you speak Spanish. When you speak English, you don't know how to spell 'English.' Get a real job, get a life. I don't make money out of that. I'm done" (South Florida SUN-SENTINEL, 5/18). In Miami, Manny Navarro notes Guillen has “been relatively quiet of late.” He had gone “more than a month without posting on the social network before returning last week” (MIAMI HERALD, 5/18).
