NFL Alumni Association Exec Dir & President and NFL Alumni Foundation CEO GEORGE MARTIN has resigned from both organizations after nearly three years. The BOD that manages both organizations has appointed JOE PISARCIK interim Chief Staff Officer. Martin will “stay on as an adviser over the next four to five months” (AP, 5/5)….NFL Network “hired MARC WATTS to fill a new position” as Dir of Media Talent for NFL Media. Watts started April 23. The league brought Watts in to “recruit and coach on-air talent for the channel.” Watts was an “on-air reporter and anchor for CNN in the 1990s. He later became an agent, representing broadcasters including CNN’s SUZANNE MALVEAUX and ROLAND MARTIN” (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 5/7 issue)….The Univ. of Portland named West Coast Conference Senior Associate Commissioner for External Relations SCOTT LEYKAM AD. Leykam also currently serves on the NCAA Championships & Sports Management Cabinet (Portland)….Oakland Univ. promoted ADRIAN KOWAL to Assistant AD/Compliance, GORDIE LINDSAY to Assistant AD/Development, SCOTT MACDONALD to Assistant AD/Communications and ELISABETH PUTNAM to Assistant AD/Facilities & Operations (Oakland)….The New York Racing Association has terminated the employment of President & CEO CHARLES HAYWARD and Senior VP and General Counsel PATRICK KEHOE. The dismissals were related to an ongoing investigation of incorrect takeout rates at state tracks (NYRA). Hayward’s attorneys issued a statement saying he expects to be “fully exonerated when all the facts come out” (Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman).
