Swinging A Hot Stick: MLBAM Already Past 3 Million Mark For At Bat App Downloads

MLBAM said that it surpassed three million downloads yesterday of its At Bat mobile application, reaching the mark just eight days into the '12 MLB season. Comparatively, MLBAM did not reach three million downloads for last year's version of At Bat until Aug. 22, 145 days into the season. Users have also averaged more than 800,000 live video and audio streams per day on the app thus far this season, about twice the typical daily volume in '11. MLBAM yesterday alone registered more than 1 million live streams. MLBAM this year is distributing At Bat through a more streamlined business model in which the app is sold on a universal platform structure, and also is included as a free amenity for purchasers of the MLB.TV out-of-market online video package.
