Names In The News

In N.Y., Ramachandran & Vranica write 45-year-old KRISTIN DOLAN, the wife of Cablevision CEO JAMES DOLAN, is "emerging with a more prominent role" at Cablevision after the recent exodus of top execs. A 22-year veteran of the company, she "was promoted in November" to Senior Exec VP/Product Management & Marketing. Her rise "has less to do with nepotism and much more to do with her own vision for the cable industry." With her new position, Kristin has "gained wider influence throughout the company," and is "using that to change Cablevision's marketing direction." A source said that she has "voiced discontent with the previous marketing approach ... which largely involved offering discounts to attract new customers and creating attack ads against the competition" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 3/28).

GETTING INSIDE: Golf broadcaster DAVID FEHERTY appeared in-studio on “CBS This Morning” this morning to discuss his Golf Channel show, “FEHERTY.” CBS’ Erica Hill said, “You do get people to open up in a way, and ... one of your goals too with your show ‘Feherty’ is really to give us something we didn’t know before.” Feherty said “It’s interesting to just hear about their childhoods, where they came from, what influenced them and those are the things that I think most people don’t know.” Feherty added, “Just how your formative years really affect who you turn out to be and what it looks like to other people. But what it looks like to other people isn’t necessarily what it is and that’s what I’m looking for” (“CBS This Morning,” CBS, 3/28).
