It's Official: Marlins Will Appear On Second Season Of Showtime's "The Franchise"

MLB Productions and Showtime will feature the Marlins for the second season of "The Franchise," the sports documentary series that debuted last year and chronicled the MLB Giants. Airdates for the new season of "The Franchise" have not yet been determined, but production has already begun. The effort will likely have a wealth of material between outspoken manager Ozzie Guillen, Marlins President David Samson, the club's new ballpark, nickname and identity, and a series of high-profile acquisitions including SS Jose Reyes and Ps Heath Bell, Carlos Zambrano and Mark Beurhle. "With all the changes they have made, this is the perfect time to feature the Miami Marlins," said MLB Exec VP/Business Tim Brosnan. "The club has no shortage of intriguing storylines and colorful characters that will make for compelling television." Guillen two years ago while manager of the White Sox was a focal point of "The Club," a somewhat similar documentary series on MLB Network that also involved MLB Productions.
