Some Jaguars Supporters Upset Over New Owner Khan's Definition Of A Fan

Some Jaguars fans "are upset about comments made by new team owner Shahid Khan" about how he defines a fan, according to Jeff Marcu of FIRST COAST NEWS. Khan during the introductory press conference for coach Mike Mularkey Wednesday said, "For me a fan is somebody who is a season ticket holder for the Jaguars. So that is a key definition we need to get out." Jim Woodcock, Khan’s spokesperson, said that the Jaguars owner "was joking when he made the comments about fans and it was an off-the-cuff comment." Khan in an e-mail statement said, "All it takes to be a Jaguars fan is to love the Jaguars. And if you love the Jaguars, you're the most important person to me and the entire organization" (FIRSTCOASTNEWS.com, 1/12).

THE TWEETEST THING: In Jacksonville, Tania Ganguli noted Khan is not on Twitter yet, but he has "spoken with his friend Colts owner Jim Irsay about the possibility." Irsay is the "only NFL owner who has a Twitter account." Khan said that if he "could add value, he would consider doing it." He added that if he "thinks it's something fans really want, that will impact his decision." Khan: "If there is a clamoring for that, that look, we need that, then hey, we'll have to do that" (JACKSONVILLE.com, 1/12).
