Names & Faces: Derrick Rose Reportedly To Sign "Lifetime" Adidas Deal

ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reported Bulls G Derrick Rose is “closing in on another lucrative deal” after signing an extension with the team. A source said that Rose's “new shoe deal with adidas will easily crack nine figures and could legitimately approach the $250 million range -- as in $25 million annually over a 10-year span -- in what is known in the shoe game as a ‘lifetime’ deal.” Stein wrote Rose is adidas' “only counter” to Lakers G Kobe Bryant, a Nike endorser, in China. Rose reportedly “already outsells” Heat F LeBron James in the country (ESPN.com, 12/30).

THE MORE, THE MERRIER: In Milwaukee, Don Walker reported State Farm Insurance was “thrilled with the success” of its "Discount Double Check" ad airing nationally with Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and the company “will soon have a new ad featuring” Rodgers, LB Clay Matthews and DT B.J. Raji. A State Farm spokesperson said that the ad “was being shot on Tuesday.” It may air “as soon as this weekend, either on television or online” (JSONLINE.com, 1/3).

GETTING HIS WINGS: Red Bull yesterday announced that Nets G Deron Williams has joined its roster of athlete endorsers. Other Red Bull athletes include Blake Griffin, Rajon Rondo, Tim Lincecum, Jimmy Rollins, Reggie Bush, Lindsey Vonn and DeMarcus Ware. The first high-profile activation of the deal is an online video that depicts Williams traveling from the Nets' locker room after a game to an official Red Bull launch party. Financial terms were not disclosed (THE DAILY).

SHOE HORNED: Asics announced that it has signed tennis player Samantha Stosur to a multiyear endorsement deal, effective Jan. 1 of this year. Stosur, the '11 U.S. Open women's singles champion, debuted using Asics footwear and apparel in professional play at the '12 Brisbane Int'l, which began on Dec. 31 (Asics). Stosur "wore Lacoste clothing before signing with Asics" (TENNISNOW.com, 1/2).

FASHION FORWARD: In Boston, Shanahan & Goldstein note Patriots QB and UGG endorser Tom Brady gave his teammates UGGs for Christmas. Brady said he gave “half the locker room” the footwear. Brady: “I just ordered as many big sizes as they had in stock -- 12s, 14s, 16s, and 18s" (BOSTON GLOBE, 1/4).
