Fox Sports Exec VP Doug Sellars Dies Of An Apparent Heart Attack

Fox Sports Media Group Exec VP/Production and Exec Producer DOUG SELLARS “died Friday of an apparent heart attack while playing a recreational hockey game,” according to Etan Vlessing of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Sellars was promoted in August ’11 and “oversaw studio and event production at the Fox Sports Media Group, including Fox Sports, Fox Sports Regional Networks and Speed, a cable sports channel he helped launch.” Previously, Sellars was “responsible for Fox Sports’ regional sports production arm.” Before that, he spent 12 years with CBC Sports (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 12/2). Fox Sports Media Group Chair DAVID HILL in a voiceover on "Fox NFL Sunday" pregame show said, “There are many ways to describe a man like Doug Sellars. He was a brilliant television producer, an overwhelmingly proud Canadian, a true sports fan and one of the kindest, people you will ever know. … He brought a leadership-style of teamwork, balance and fluidity with his easygoing personality, self-deprecating sense of humor and firm hand. A leader known for direct approach and honesty, Doug was calm yet assertive” (Fox).
