Buccaneers Fire Coach Raheem Morris Along With Entire Coaching Staff

A 10-game losing streak and the "worst defense in team history ... ultimately cost Bucs coach Raheem Morris and his entire staff their jobs Monday," according to Rick Stroud of the TAMPA BAY TIMES. While "vowing to spend 'whatever it takes to win,'" Buccaneers co-Chair Joel Glazer said that team GM Mark Dominik will "spearhead a coaching search, starting immediately." Believed to be "atop of the Bucs wish list ... is former Titans coach Jeff Fisher." But Glazer said that the process would be "thorough and indicated the team would consider candidates with no NFL head coaching experience" (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 1/3). In Tampa Bay, Stroud, Holder & Smith noted there is "no timetable for hiring Morris' replacement." Glazer said, "We’re not going to pigeonhole our decision. We’re going to talk to a lot of different people, there’s a lot of good, potential candidates out there, whether they’re coordinators, former head coaches, a [lot] of possible candidates and we’re going to take our time to be thorough in this process, [talk] to the people and make a good collective decision here" (TAMPABAY.com, 1/2).

HOME GAME: Glazer said yesterday that the team has "told the league it does not wish to play in overseas games after doing so twice in three seasons." Glazer added that the decision was "not made for football reasons." The team "wants to solidify its core audience here." Glazer: "We were helping the NFL build internationally. We believe greatly in that. But for the foreseeable future, we told them we want to focus on building our base here" (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 1/3).
