Swinging On The Strip: Callaway Golf Shoots New Ad Campaigns In Vegas

Callaway Golf and its roster of endorsers, including Arnold Palmer and Phil Mickelson, are in Las Vegas this week “to shoot TV commercials, print ads and online footage for two separate campaigns,” according to Carol Cling of the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL. The Mirage's “signature volcano” provided the backdrop Tuesday night, while the Bellagio's “equally famous fountains” were the setting for the golfers last night. Plans also called for “helicopters to capture aerial shots.” The action for today and tomorrow “shifts south to the Callaway Golf Center across from Town Square; DreamVision Studios' three soundstages also figure in the shoot, which is scheduled to continue through Saturday.” The commercials “will start airing in January and continue through the summer months” (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 12/12). USA TODAY’s Steve DiMeglio notes Callaway “took the game away from the course for its 2012 campaign to promote its new drivers and ball.” The company “tapped the creative mind of multiple Emmy and Grammy Award-winning actor, musician and avid golfer Justin Timberlake, who teamed with filmmaker Joseph Kahn.” Kahn said, “This is an approach to golf that I have never seen before. … This is like shooting an action movie” (USA TODAY, 12/15).
