Stars Dropping Ticket Prices In Hopes Of Drawing More Fans

The Stars are "implementing a new ticket-pricing plan" Friday for the remainder of the season in hopes of improving on their current average attendance of 11,469, according to Mike Heika of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. The club ranks next to last in attendance, in "large part due to the fact the team was run by a group of lenders and had lost much of its marketing and sales staff over the past two years." Stars Owner Tom Gaglardi said the new pricing plan "is our way of saying we're committed to the long-term success of the new Dallas Stars." He added, "One of the first things we did as a management team was look at individual ticket prices." Heika notes the Stars "will offer tickets as low as $9 in the upper level, and will make 85 percent of the seats upstairs $25 or less." In the lower bowl, the two "main pricing points will be $70 and $110." The old price "was $125 to $150" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 12/9).
