In Nashville, Nate Rau notes ESPN's ERIN ANDREWS filed a "new lawsuit in Davidson County Circuit Court last week accusing the Nashville hotel where she was unknowingly videotaped in the nude in 2008 of invasion of privacy, negligence and infliction of emotional stress." Andrews also "named convicted perpetrator MICHAEL BARRETT in the lawsuit." She is "seeking $10 million in total damages for each alleged account -- $4 million from Barrett and $6 million from the hotel" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 12/6).

BRAIN STUDY: The N.Y. TIMES today concludes its look at the life and death of former NHLer DEREK BOOGAARD with part three of the feature written under the header, “A Brain ‘Going Bad.’” The article chronicles Boogaard's “descent, on and off the ice, and the posthumous determination by researchers that he had a degenerative brain condition believed to be caused by repeated blows to the head” (N.Y. TIMES, 12/6).

NAMES: The Univ. of Detroit-Mercy last night named its basketball floor after ESPN's DICK VITALE. Many of Vitale's friends and former players "were on hand to celebrate with him," and ESPN "aired numerous memorable photos and video clips from throughout Vitale's coaching and broadcasting career" (RIVALS.YAHOO.com, 12/6)....Former NFLer NAPOLEON HARRIS plans to run for the Illinois state Senate. On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth.
