CAA Adds Prominent Player, Coach Agent Jimmy Sexton To Roster

CAA has confirmed it has reached an agreement in principle for prominent NFL players and football coaches agent Jimmy Sexton to join CAA Sports, a move that will further strengthen the agency’s foothold on representing the best players in the NFL. Sexton represents a number of top NFL players, including Broncos QB Tim Tebow and Chargers QB Philip Rivers, as well as a number of top football coaches, including the Jets’ Rex Ryan and the Univ. of Alabama’s Nick Saban. Since entering the business of representing NFL players, CAA Sports has dominated the space, and as previously reported, recently signed long-term extensions with powerful NFL player agents Tom Condon and Ben Dogra to head the NFL player practice. CAA Sports co-Head Howard Nuchow said in a statement, “Jimmy is an extremely talented and accomplished agent whose innovative approach to deal-making has led to precedent-setting opportunities for his clients. His dedication to providing the highest quality client service will make him a terrific partner to Ben and Tom and our entire CAA Sports team.” News that Sexton was joining CAA and former rival agents Dogra and Condon leaked out into industry football circles Tuesday night and was first reported by industry blog “Inside the League.” The news surprised many rival agents because Sexton had just announced last year that he was merging his practice with rival NFL agent Pat Dye Jr. into a new company they named SportsTrust Advisors. Dye declined comment today on Sexton’s move.
