MLS Attendance Jumps 7.2% With Two Expansion Clubs, New Sporting K.C. Venue

MLS attendance jumped 7.2% during the '11 regular season, fueled by two expansion franchises and Sporting KC's move to a new soccer-specific venue. The expansion Whitecaps and Timbers ranked third and sixth, respectively, in league home attendance during their inaugural seasons. Sporting KC saw attendance jump 73.1% during their first season at Livestrong Sporting Park, ranking the club eighth overall. The Sounders once again led all clubs by a wide margin for the third consecutive season with 36,173 fans per game, up 6.4% from last year. The Rapids, FC Dallas and Earthquakes also saw double-digit percentage gains in home attendance. The Crew and Fire saw the sharpest drops this season, down 16.8% and 9.7%, respectively. Listed below is team-by-team attendance for the '11 MLS regular season, with comparisons to '10 (THE DAILY).
