NBC Sports Group named former ESPN exec ROB SIMMELKJAER Senior VP/NBC Sports Ventures and promoted EARL MARSHALL to NBC Sports Group CFO. Marshall previously served as NBC Sports Cable Group CFO. Simmelkjaer will lead the Sports Ventures unit, which includes Alli, the American Century Golf Championship, the ADT Golf Skills Challenge, the Heads Up Poker Championship and the National Dog Show. He also will lead int'l business development for Golf Channel, NBC Sports and other businesses (NBCUniversal). Simmelkjaer will be based out of NBC's offices at 30 Rock and will report to NBC Olympics President GARY ZENKEL. Simmelkjaer also will have an "on-air assignment for the London Games" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 9/12 issue).

EXECS: The D'Backs have hired Dodgers VP/Communications JOSH RAWITCH as Senior VP/Communications. Rawitch "will remain with the Dodgers through the end of the regular season, then join the Diamondbacks in time for the playoffs" (ESPNLA.com, 9/12). Rawitch said that he "was approached by the Diamondbacks and that the turmoil surrounding the Dodgers' ownership this season was not a factor in his decision" (LATIMES.com, 9/12)....The Padres named SARAH FARNSWORTH Senior VP/Public Affairs.
