NFL Marketing Notes: Lockout Has Put Crimp In Eagles' Merchandise Sales

Eagles COO Don Smolenski said the lockout has had a "direct impact" on the team's retail sales. Smolenski "declined to specify how much less money the Eagles have made this offseason from jersey and other merchandise sales." But he added the retail sales "have been noticeably less than what they would otherwise be, especially coming off the year that we had, with some of the marquee players," including QB Michael Vick, RB LeSean McCoy and WR DeSean Jackson (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 7/7).

BACK FOR MORE: The Maryland Lottery and the Ravens are set to release a new scratch-off ticket in August, pending the resolution of the work stoppage. The Ravens Cash Fantasy ticket will offer more than $11.2M in instant cash prizes, including six opportunities to win $250,000 (Maryland Lottery). In Baltimore, Andrea Walker notes the ticket "will be sold at every" Ravens home game and "will be available at more than 4,000 Maryland Lottery retail locations." It is "expected to generate about $2 million in revenue" (Baltimore SUN, 7/7).

SUPER GEAR: In Indianapolis, Jeff Swiatek reported Super Bowl XLVI merchandise is "officially available for purchase" in the city at the Colts ProShops in Circle Centre Mall and Lucas Oil Stadium, "plus online at ColtsProShop.com." Sales are handled by sports merchandising company MainGate, and items "include apparel, novelties, collectibles and footballs." MainGate said that by agreement of the NFL, the Colts "have exclusive rights to sell Super Bowl XLVI merchandise at their retail stores through the end of July, after which items will be more widely available" (INDYSTAR.com, 7/6).
