The USOC named Colorado School of Mines Senior VP/Finance & Administration, CFO and Treasurer KIRSTEN VOLPI to the newly created position of Chief Administrative Officer, effective Sept. 1 (USOC)....The Maple Leafs have hired former Thrashers GM RICK DUDLEY. The hiring "was something of a surprise, since Dudley was expected to rejoin" Panthers GM DALE TALLON, whom he worked with during his time with the Blackhawks (GLOBE & MAIL, 6/25)....Southern Univ. SID KEVIN MANNS said that he is leaving the school to become the Assistant AD for Media Relations at Winston-Salem State Univ. (Baton Rouge ADVOCATE, 6/25).
