Charlotte Motor Speedway To Simulcast Avett Brothers Concert On Video Board

In a "first for Charlotte Motor Speedway," the July 9 Avett Brothers concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo., will be simulcast on the track's new HD video board, according to Nate Ryan of USA TODAY. CMS President Marcus Smith "expects a simulcast crowd as large as 10,000 and has plans to give" fans of the band, which is originally from North Carolina, a "good feel for NASCAR." Smith: "If the potential is there to do rides around the track that won't interfere with the music, absolutely." Although "many speedways have played host to concerts, Smith thinks this might be a first for such a facility showing a simulcast." Ryan writes with NASCAR "seeking ways to shore up its lagging young demographics, the Charlotte Motor Speedway concert might showcase a way for the sport to tap into a hipper audience through technology" (USA TODAY, 6/23). Tickets to attend the viewing at CMS cost $10 from now until July 1, at which point they will increase to $15. Tickets purchased on the day of the event will cost $20 (THE DAILY).
