Bengals Bring Radio Rights In-House, Name Dan Hoard New Play-By-Play Announcer

The Bengals yesterday announced that they are bringing their radio rights in-house, with the team coordinating the sales and operations of the broadcasts. In addition to game broadcasts, the team will have shows on Monday and Wednesday nights and Friday afternoons. A radio station partner, as well as the location for the shows, will be announced at a later date. Meanwhile, Univ. of Cincinnati football and basketball radio announcer Dan Hoard will be the Bengals' new play-by-play announcer, while Dave Lapham will enter his 26th season as analyst (Bengals). In Cincinnati, Joe Reedy noted Hoard "did play-by-play for the three preseason games on television that were produced by the Bengals." He replaces Brad Johansen, "who has called the games ... for the past 11 seasons" (CINCINNATI.com, 5/4). In Boston, Peter Abraham wrote Hoard is "one of the best in the business, a real pro and a great guy." Hoard also serves as radio announcer for the Triple-A Int'l League Pawtucket Red Sox, and he will stay in that role "until the end of the season" (BOSTON.com, 5/4).
