Overnight Nielsen Ratings: NASCAR Sprint Cup At Bristol Down 7% From '10

CBS' coverage of the NCAA men's basketball tournament topped overnight Nielsen ratings for all weekend sports telecasts on broadcast TV. After three consecutive weeks of ratings gains to start the season for its NASCAR Sprint Cup Series coverage, Fox' telecast of the Jeff Byrd 500 from Bristol Motor Speedway dropped 7% from the same race last year. The race was held after a one-week hiatus for the series. ABC aired its first weekend tennis event since '03 with coverage of the BNP Paribas Open from Indian Wells tennis Garden. Yesterday's men's and women's finals from 2:00-7:00pm ET -- featuring Novak Djokovic-Rafael Nadal and Carolina Wozniacki-Marion Bartoli -- earned a 1.3 overnight. NBC's coverage of the PGA Tour Transitions Championship saw a decline on both Saturday and Sunday, while the net's Rangers-Penguins overnight was flat compared to Rangers-Bruins on the same weekend last year.
