MLB Rangers Increase Single-Game Ticket Prices, Number Of Premier Games

The MLB Rangers have increased single-game ticket prices "in the majority of seats for the majority of home games" for the '11 season, and there are "10 more premier games, which cost more to attend," according to Jeff Wilson of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM. Compared to the '10 season, single-game tickets at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington "will cost more in 64 percent of seats for non-premier games, though in some cases increases are no more than a dollar or two." Some seating in the lower bowl and club level "will increase more significantly, but the affected seats account" for only 15% of the total attendance. To offset the "increase of premier games" to 29, 69% of prices for those games will be down from last year. Rangers Managing Partner & CEO Chuck Greenberg said that with parking prices "$2 cheaper than much of last season and premier prices down, families can attend multiple games more affordably than last year" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 2/10). In Dallas, Evan Grant noted the "majority of tickets, comprising 71 percent of the seats in the stadium, are going up $2 per ticket or less." The seats in the lower bowl and club level seeing "significant hikes" are increasing $12 and $13, up 24-29%, for non-premier games, and 15-18% for premier games. Nine percent of seats for premier games "will go up between" 1-4%. Greenberg said that the team "has a chance of having season ticket totals approach 15,000," up from "about 7,500 last year" (DALLASNEWS.com, 2/9). Greenberg added that the team is "already above 10,000" in season-ticket sales. ESPN DALLAS' Richard Durrett noted the "new videoboard remains on target for Opening Day" (ESPNDALLAS.com, 2/9).
