ASPEN SKIING CO. BRINGS IN THE YOUTH TO TARGET NEW SKIERS

Aspen Skiing Co. (SkiCo) "has convened a new board to
make its younger visitors happier," according to Kathleen
Carlson of the ASPEN DAILY NEWS, who wrote that the board
aims "to ultimately attract more youthful skiers and
snowboarders" to the resort. The 16-member board will be
known as "New Generation." SkiCo Nat'l Sales Manager Becca
Blay said that the "board has a customer service focus,
which will try to incorporate a fun image to" the sports, as
SkiCo is "trying to get away from its corporate image."
Blay "lists more parades, bands and activities as ways to
draw younger crowds." Carlson noted that "with the number
of skier visits declining and studies showing that children
have a big impact" on where parents decide to vacation,
SkiCo and other CO resorts are rapidly trying to get a hold
of the youthful market niche" (ASPEN DAILY NEWS, 12/11).
