MEDIA NAMES: THE WASHINGTON POST ON THE DISPUTE OVER CHAD

Syndicated NFL columnist Norman Chad claims the
Washington Post is editing sections of his weekly column
that refer to Redskins Owner Daniel Snyder, according to Ron
Rapoport of the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES. Chad: "Any time I put two
words in front of Snyder's name, they come out in the Post.
... There's not much I can do about it -- anyone can edit
the column any way they like -- but many of my Redskins
items, which are absurd like all the others, they rewrite
entirely. He doesn't do it for any other team." Washington
Post Sports Editor George Solomon: "We edit everybody. It's
entertaining, but sometimes it's over the edge in regard to
taste, fairness or whether it's libelous." Solomon denied
editing only Chad's Redskins items, saying he has changed
references to Broncos LB Bill Romanowski (SUN-TIMES, 11/30).
RYAN'S SONG: Titans radio analyst Pat Ryan apologized
for remarks he made at the end of Sunday's Titans-Jaguars
game, which he said was "decided by two foreign guys, the
kickers." Play-by-play partner Mike Keith responded,
"Neither one of these guys are foreign." Ryan said, "Well,
you know what I mean." Ryan said Tuesday, "I knew it was
just a stupid statement and I wish I could take it back. I'm
sorry if it offended anybody" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 11/29).
MUGGSY ON THE AIR: Raptors G Muggsy Bogues served "as
color commentator on the Raptors' radio network for last
night's game between the Hornets and Raptors, and he will
continue in that role occasionally until he comes off the
injured list in about four weeks." Bogues, on his new role:
"There's nothing really that tough about it. It's pretty
much just talking about the game of basketball, and I can do
that all day" (John Delong, WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL, 11/30).
