Fans who attend the new American Airlines Center (AAC)
"will be able to watch hockey and basketball games from
cushy seats that come with amenities such as VIP parking,
waiters on call and concierge services -- if they're willing
to shell out $7,000 to $18,000 per seat a year," according
to Richard Alm of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. The Center
Operating Co., the partnership formed by the Mavericks and
Stars to operate the arena, will hold a reception today to
launch the marketing campaign for its "platinum seats" to
the general public. For the past month, the company has
been offering these seats to "season ticket holders, Reunion
Arena bondholders and others with ties to the teams." The
platinum level club seats will be located just above the
first tier of luxury suites, and about 400 of the 1,936
seats have been sold. With the club seats, AAC "will be
among the highest-priced facilities in the country." Center
Operating Co. President Brad Mayne: "This is definitely a
product for the Dallas market. Before the facility opens,
we will be sold out" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 11/30).
