Sharks radio broadcaster DAN RUSANOWSKY is in guarded
but stable condition following a two-car accident near San
Jose Arena on Saturday afternoon. He suffered a "broken
femur, fractured pelvis, ruptured diaphragm and a punctured
lung as well as a possible concussion" in the crash.
Rusanowsky has been the team's play-by-play broadcaster
since '91. Sharks President GREG JOHNSON visited Rusanowsky
and said that the "prognosis was positive" (MERCURY NEWS,
11/26)....OSCAR DE LA HOYA made his singing network TV debut
on NBC's "Tonight Show" and sang a song from his new self-
titled CD. Leno, on De La Hoya fighting other pop singers:
"I'd like to see that. Maybe have a tagteam with [Enrique]
Iglesias and Ricky Martin, you take out the two of them"

the second annual WORLD SPORTS AWARDS on January 16 in
London. The awards will honor athletes in nine categories.
The World Sports Awards "is negotiating with networks for a
