ABC earned a 14.4/22 overnight Nielsen rating for last
night's Redskins-Rams game, up 7% from last year's 13.4/22
for Packers-49ers (THE DAILY). During last night's game,
ABC's Dennis Miller changed his mind about Rams coach Mike
Martz challenging a call on the field: "I just tried to
salvage it. But I felt like a whore." Miller asked ABC's
Dan Fouts, "Why do quarterbacks rush so quickly to put a
baseball cap on when they get to the sideline?" Fouts:
"Must be an endorsement deal" ("MNF," ABC, 11/20). In St.
Louis, Dan Caesar examines the production behind "MNF," and
writes, "The presence of Miller has garnered most of the
attention directed at 'MNF' this season. But purely from a
production standpoint, the upgrade in the breadth of the
pictures airing is profound." "MNF" Exec Producer Don
Ohlmeyer: "We've been trying to make Monday night special
again. For three hours on a Monday night the kids aren't
crying, the marriage that's bad can be put aside, you can
forget about not being able to make the payment on the boat.
My first love is live television. And if you're going to do
live TV, this is it" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 11/21).
