MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

TITANS TO REMEMBER: In Nashville, Stacey Hartmann cited
NFL data as of October 31 showing that the Titans are ranked
No. 2 in merchandise sales behind the Cowboys.
Additionally, Titans RB Eddie George has the "top-selling
jersey." Hartmann also reports that Nashville area
retailers are "dedicating more floor space than ever this
holiday season" to the Titans, and stores are reporting
"sales increases three and four times greater than last
year." Retailer Andrew Turner said of increasing space for
Titans gear, "All we've really been doing is shrinking our
[Univ. of TN] side to make room" (TENNESSEAN, 11/19).
NIKE'S JONES SPOT: Nike's TV spot featuring Marion
Jones was the third most effective ad in USA TODAY's "Ad
Track" for campaigns during the first three quarters of
2000, as 35% of respondents called the ad "very effective."
Meanwhile, the ad was the second most popular spot among
females with 37% of respondents, but the fifth least popular
among males with 21% of respondents (USA TODAY, 11/20).
NOTES: A's 1B/AL MVP Jason Giambi signed a deal with
The Pepsi Bottling Group in Northern CA and the Pacific
Northwest (PBG)....Calgary has been "bounced" from the
Canadian Pro Golf Tour, "at least for next season." The
Tour's "biggest sponsor," Telus Corp., is "dropping
sponsorship" of the Calgary stop. Tour Commissioner Jacques
Burelle said that "there remains insufficient time to find
