OFFLINE: SPORTSLINE TERMINATES E-COMMERCE DEAL WITH MVP.COM

SportsLine.com announced on Friday that it has
terminated its e-commerce agreement with MVP.com, which
began in January 2000. SportsLine stated that MVP.com
remains overdue with its fourth quarter 2000 payment (see
THE DAILY, 10/24), and that the move is due to MVP.com's
breach of certain provisions of the agreement. Talks for a
restructuring of the deal were unsuccessful
(SportsLine.com). In S.F., Tommy Cummings noted that
     MVP.com's e-commerce partnership with SportsLine was a
$120M, ten-year deal. SportsLine said last month that it
was owed a $5M quarterly payment from MVP.com.
SportsLine.com CEO Michael Levy, on the company's e-commerce
efforts: "We will try to find a partner. It's not anything
[MVP.com has] done in their business. It's just hard to
raise money in this business" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 11/18).
