WHILE RAYS INTRODUCE NEW LOOK, FANS GIVE EXECS AN EARFUL

The Devil Rays unveiled a new logo and cap last night
at Tropicana Field, "then the baseball people took the heat
     from season-ticket holders during a question-and-answer
session," according to Bill Chastain of the TAMPA TRIBUNE.
Both the logo and cap designs "incorporate the use of green,
blue and black and feature a more traditional look." The
primary cap is black with the initials "TB" in green over a
black ray. The alternate cap features a green bill. The
logo "encorporates the words Tampa Bay encircled by a blue
and green circle over a sleek, blue and black ray." After
the meeting, a crowd of around 300 "began to throw
questions" at team GM Chuck LaMar and members of the
coaching staff. One fan complimented LaMar "for being one
of the great developers of talent," but then stated, "I also
think you are one of the worst general managers in
baseball." Chastain: "That comment seemed to kick the
session into open season on a last-place team that won just
69 games during the 2000 season. ... In between criticisms,
fans asked some intelligent questions and were given some
     interesting answers" (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 11/17).
