DIAMONDBACKS NIX ABOUT 15 POSITIONS, SLASH BUDGET BY $10M

The D'Backs have "cut jobs and programs across the
board in order to reduce" their budget by $10M, according to
Richard Obert of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC, who reports that some
front-office employees resigned, including Senior Assistant
to the GM Mel Didier. D'Backs President Rich Dozer said the
resigned positions "will not be filled." Equipment Manager
Chris Guth was dismissed before the layoffs, and Dozer said
that it "has not been determined what will happen" with that
position. Dozer: "We've gone to every department and said,
'Do what you can to get as lean and mean as possible.'"
Dozer said that about 15 positions have been eliminated, but
he does not "expect more layoffs" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 11/15).
