ChoiceSeat's SmartSeat interactive technology will be
installed at the FleetCenter this season. Initially, the
program will deploy ChoiceSeats at FleetCenter's luxury
suites, concourse areas and the Sports Museum of New
England's Premium Club location, with the potential to
expand to other individual seats. Compaq will participate
in the initial launch at FleetCenter by providing PCs and
flat screen monitors (ChoiceSeat). In Boston, Nancy
Marrapese-Burrell notes that the technology provides "on-
demand live action and multiple-angle replays" (BOSTON
GLOBE, 11/14). USA TODAY's Chris Jenkins reports on the
deal and notes that MSG and Tropicana Field also feature
ChoiceSeats. The technology will be launched for Thursday's
Devils-Bruins game. FleetCenter President & CEO Rich
Krezwick said that he does not "necessarily expect"
ChoiceSeats "to draw in hordes of new fans." Krezwick: "I
don't think anybody will say they're not going to a game if
we don't have a ChoiceSeat or Internet access. But that is
no reason for us to stop over-delivering." Jenkins adds
that MSG has installed four or five of the units in each of
its luxury suites as well as in a few hundred club seats
near the floor. Tropicana Field has about 100, "all mounted
on the seats right behind home plate" (USA TODAY, 11/14).
