guest appearances for the company (InterAct). Earnhardt is
featured in a Q&A with NASCAR WINSTON CUP SCENE's Jeff
Owens. On wearing "do-rags": "Sometimes Budweiser would
much prefer me to wear a Bud hat or Remington or whoever it
may be on the car, and I can understand that. But sometimes
it's just fun to be different." On appearing in Rolling
Stone: "I was excited. I never expected it, thought it was
way too early or undeserved" (WINSTON CUP SCENE, 11/9).
ALL ABOUT IMAGE: ESPN2's Bill Weber examined how "image
is everything" on the Winston Cup circuit. Former President
of Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Don Hawk, on Dale Earnhardt:
"Earnhardt's got an aura. He's got a swagger to his walk,
he's got a style to his talk that makes you think, 'He is
bad, he is scary, he is intimidating'." JG Motorsports Exec
VP Bob Brannan said Jeff Gordon's "wholesome image is a true
image, it's not an image that is put on as a facade."
Gordon: "I think I try really hard to put a good image out
there, especially for kids" ("RPM 2Night," ESPN2, 11/9).
