OLYMPIC NOTES

USA TODAY's Vicki Michaelis reports that Acting USOC
CEO Scott Blackmun "could be named permanently" to the
position at a USOC Exec Committee meeting today in Chicago.
Several members of the committee have said that they would
"prefer to name a replacement quickly" to help settle some
of the "upheaval" that has been "rankling the USOC" since
former CEO Norm Blake resigned (USA TODAY, 11/10).
ELECTION RETURNS: The AP's Paul Foy wrote that UT Gov.
Mike Leavitt "refunded" a $2,000 political contribution from
the SLOC that "jeopardized the nonprofit status" of the
committee. The contribution was made to Leavitt in '97. When
the SLOC saw the Leavitt campaign report showing the
donation last week, SLOC Associate General Counsel notified
Leavitt, and the campaign wrote a check (AP, 11/9).
