          FANS GREET ROY WITH CHEERS IN DENVER: Avalanche G
     Patrick Roy played his first game since his weekend arrest
     on charges related to domestic violence, and in Boulder,
     Karen Price writes, "If any of the fans at the Pepsi Center
     were angered by the incident, their boos were drowned out by
     the thousands of cheers that rang out when Roy's name was
     announced in the starting lineup" (DAILY CAMERA, 10/26).
          NOTES: In DC, Mark Maske notes that the Redskins met
     with NFL officials in N.Y. yesterday to discuss the team's
     management of the PA system during games at FedEx Field. 
     Redskins Senior VP/PR Karl Swanson said, "I think they have
     a better understanding of what we are trying to do, and we
     have a better understanding of what they expect in terms of
     game-day operational guidelines" (WASHINGTON POST
     10/26)....Portland's new Triple-A Pacific Coast League team
     will be called the Beavers (Beavers)....In Cleveland, Roger
     Brown writes that "in a wise departure" from regular policy,
     the Cavs have "set realistic attendance goals," wanting to
     average 14,400 fans for their first ten home games this
     season (PLAIN DEALER, 10/25)....The Capitals are offering a
     new Ted e-Bear ticket package on their Web site.  Fans can
     purchase two Mezzanine Ends tickets and a Caps Player Bear
     for $54.00 (Capitals)....In St. Pete, Jon Wilson writes that
     the Devil Rays are sending Paula Kunkle and her brother Russ
     to Game Five of the World Series tonight.  Kunkle, who has
     had cerebral palsy since birth, won the trip in a baseball
     trivia contest.  The team is providing transportation,
     lodging, and tickets to the game (ST. PETE TIMES, 10/26).
