HENRY GOES TO BAT: In N.Y., Bill Madden writes that
Marlins Owner John Henry asked a bat boy at Yankee Stadium
for the "notorious chunk" of Mets C Mike Piazza's bat that
Yankees P Roger Clemens "heaved aside." But the bat "won't
be displayed in either" Pro Player Stadium or a new
ballpark. Henry: "I gave it to my guest sitting with me.
He's with Merrill Lynch, one of my biggest clients." Henry,
on a new ballpark: "This is a make or break year for us. We
have to get a new stadium or else" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 10/25).
NOTES: The WALL STREET JOURNAL INTERACTIVE's David
Sweet wrote that though Reunion Arena "is unlikely to be
immediately demolished," Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban "plans
to set up a site" for the arena's memorabilia at
shopping.yahoo.com. Cuban: "Everything I have is for sale.
Old posters, programs, tickets, anything we can find laying
around" (WALL STREET JOURNAL INTERACTIVE, 10/24)....In
Hartford, Jerry Trecker writes that stadium negotiations are
"continuing" for Boston's WUSA franchise, with Tufts Univ.
"apparently the front-runner to host the bulk" of the team's
home schedule (HARTFORD COURANT, 10/25).
