THIS TRIBE HAS SPOKEN .... AND THEY WANT THE CARDINALS

          The Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Indian tribe made an
     "unexpectedly alluring" offer for a proposed $335M stadium
     for the NFL Cardinals on a "patch" of desert, stealing a
     "little thunder" from larger cities around Phoenix,
     according to Shaun McKinnon of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC.  The
     proposal came as a "surprise" to the Tourism and Sports
     Authority Board, and offers "plentiful land, and easily
     financed access roads and parking lots."  Cardinals VP
     Michael Bidwill, board members and stadium supporters took a
     tour of potential sites yesterday, but members said a site
     would not be chosen until after the November 7 referendum on
     stadium measure Prop. 302.  If voters approve Prop. 302, the
     search for a site could be "widened" (AZ REPUBLIC, 10/19).
