AGENCY NOTES: TWO CT FIRMS MERGE; ROSNER SAYS SIZE MATTERS

CT-based Velocity Sports & Entertainment has announced
the acquisition of CT-based The Event Company. The merged
agency will take on the Velocity name and will continue to
operate out of two Westport, CT, locations. The Event
Company Founder Ginny Bloomquist will become Exec VP of
Velocity, but will also continue to oversee some meeting
planning business as part of an Event Company-branded
     subsidiary (Velocity Sports & Entertainment).
BIG TIME: The SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Bill King
profiles NJ-based 16W Marketing, the new sports agency of
former SFX execs Frank Vuono and Steve Rosner. For Rosner,
the "chief frustration" at SFX "came from the size of the
stable of players" the agency "grew to represent," as it was
the job of his talent rep division "to find endorsements for
all of them." Rosner: "I'm a firm believer that all
athletes are not marketable. Unfortunately for some of
those other agents [at SFX] the important thing was to get
marketing deals for everyone so you can keep them all happy
and do the next contract" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/16).
