Two weeks after its release, the book "I AM DIEGO," a
memoir by DIEGO MARADONA, "appears to be on its way to
becoming the biggest best-seller in Argentine history,"
according to Clifford Krauss of the N.Y. TIMES. In its
first week, the book sold 222,000 copies of a "record-
breaking" first edition printing of 350,000. There are also
plans to have the book translated into 30 languages for
eventual publication in 80 countries (N.Y. TIMES, 10/14).
WALTER PAYTON'S MEMOIR: In N.Y, Michael Lichtenstein
reviews "NEVER DIE EASY: THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF WALTER
PAYTON," written by the late Bears RB and DON YEAGER.
Lichtenstein writes that Payton had "hoped" the book would
be "inspirational, and as with most everything he attempted,
he succeeded" (N.Y. TIMES, 10/15).
