BRONCOS INK CONTRACT EXTENSIONS WITH LOCAL BROADCASTERS

The Broncos received "about" $40M -- "one of the most
lucrative local media packages in the NFL -- in return for
matching five-year contract extensions" that give KOA Radio
and KUSA-NBC exclusive broadcasting rights and "behind-the-
scenes access" through the 2005 season, according to Adam
Schefter of the DENVER POST. KOA paid "up to" $28M for the
right to continue serving as the Broncos' flagship radio
station, a role it has performed since '69. KUSA paid $12M
to broadcast the Broncos' preseason games, "as well as the
opportunity for behind-the-scenes access and the right to
help the team promote and sponsor its new stadium." KUSA
"outbid" Fox and KCNC-CBS, which "revealed this week it is
scaling back the budget it uses" for the Broncos. Broncos
VP/Business Operations Joe Ellis: "It's where we should be
and where we wanted to be. Now listeners and viewers don't
have to change their dials or stations" (DEN. POST, 10/11).
