controversy over performance-enhancing drugs "a threat to
these Games, future Olympics, and all of sport" (BOSTON

possibly hosting the 2012 Games: "The idea to hold the
Opening Ceremonies on the Mall ... is brilliant. It's the
kind of thing the IOC and its television partners will
love." But any U.S. city "will have to have a war chest of
private funds. And one wonders if Orlando-Tampa, with
Disney's deep pockets and all that land ... wouldn't have an

Dan Docktoroff said that the cost of the Olympics to N.Y.
"would be about" $850M, which would be recouped through TV
rights and sponsorship. In N.Y., Filip Bondy called the bid
"a long shot" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 9/24)....Canadian athlete
Emma Robinson, on the athletes "code" against revealing any
of the possible sexual exploits within the Olympic Village:
"What goes on in the village stays in the village. It's not
