NETWORK NEWS WEEKEND OLYMPIC TV MONITOR

          Friday night's 6:30pm ET edition of NBC's "Nightly
     News" first reported on the Olympics at 9:23 into the
     broadcast with a 1:23 report on the Bulgarian weightlifting
     team, followed by a 3:17 report on the effects of
     performance-enhancing drugs.  At 21:50, NBC reported on new
     sports in the Games and at 23:51, there was a 3:19 report on
     the Clark family, which has three members on the U.S.
     women's Track and Field team.  Friday night's 6:30pm ET
     edition of ABC's "World News Tonight" first reported on the
     Olympics at 16:25 with a 0:42 report on the day's results. 
     Friday night's 7:00pm ET edition of the "CBS Evening News"
     did not report on the Games.  Saturday night's 6:30pm ET
     edition of NBC's "Nightly News" first reported on the
     Olympics at 8:19 with a 2:51 report on the day's results,
     followed by a 3:13 report on new U.S. citizen and Olympic
     athlete Anna Kozlova and a 0:24 report on Salt Lake City. 
     Saturday's 6:30pm ET edition of ABC's "World News Tonight"
     and the 7:00pm ET edition of "CBS Evening News" both were
     pre-empted by NCAA football.  NBC's "Today" show this
     morning had interviews with U.S. diver Laura Wilkinson,
     sprinter Maurice Greene and Trinidad sprinter Ato Boldon,
     U.S. rowers Missy Ryan and Karen Kroft, U.S. swimmer Dara
     Torres, the U.S. women's water polo team, Australian swimmer
     Ian Thorpe and U.S. equestrian David O'Connor (THE DAILY).
