MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET 60-minute edition
     of FSN's "National Sports Report" led with a report on the
     1-2 Redskins, followed by White Sox-Tigers.  "NSR" first
     reported on the Olympic Games at 33:40 into the broadcast
     and had 4:33 of total Olympic coverage.  Last night's
     11:00pm ET 30-minute edition of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight"
     led with Mets-Braves, followed by Indians-Red Sox.  The
     first non-MLB report, at 6:50, was an Olympic update, and
     "Sports Tonight" had 3:40 of total Olympic coverage.  Last
     night's 11:00pm ET 60-minute edition of ESPN's
     "SportsCenter" led with Indians-Red Sox, followed by A's-
     Orioles.  The first non-MLB report, at 11:21, was the Browns
     releasing OL Orlando Brown.  "SportsCenter" first reported
     on the Olympics at 13:55 and had 4:18 of total Olympic
     coverage (THE DAILY).
          NEW DEALS: CBS signed a three-year deal to broadcast
     the semifinals and finals of the Sanex WTA Tour's Family
     Circle Cup in April.  The event had been on NBC for over
     twenty years before Fox broadcasted it the last two years
     (THE DAILY). ...Outdoor Life Network (OLN) signed a multi-
     year deal for the exclusive broadcast rights to the Calgary
     Stampede rodeo.  OLN will air over 30 hours of coverage
     throughout all ten days of the Stampede in July (OLN).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
