of FSN's "National Sports Report" led with Indians-Yankees,
followed by White Sox-Tigers. The first non-MLB report, at
5:10 into the broadcast, was an injury update on Broncos QB
Brian Griese. "NSR" reported on the Olympics at 11:42 and
had 7:13 of total Olympic coverage. Last night's 11:00pm ET
30-minute edition of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" led with
Mets-Braves, followed by Indians-Yankees. The first non-MLB
report, at 7:19, was an Olympic update and "Sports Tonight"
had 3:26 of total Olympic coverage. Last night's 12:00am ET
60-minute edition of ESPN's "SportsCenter" led with Indians-
Yankees, followed by Athletics-Orioles. The first non-MLB
report, at 14:48, was an Olympic update and "SportsCenter"
had 0:23 of total Olympic coverage (THE DAILY).
NOTES: DAILY VARIETY's John Dempsey reports that MSG
issued a statement indicating that the Yankees and MSG "have
begun conversations to try to work out a deal" that would
give MSG the exclusive rights to broadcast Yankees' games
(DAILY VARIETY, 9/19). USA TODAY's Doug Smith writes that
MSG and the Yankees "postponed their Monday meeting for
deciding whether MSG would match the team's proposal" to
start its own cable network (USA TODAY, 9/19)....MTV "has
started working on a documentary" of NASCAR and had two TV
camera personnel spend the day with Dale Earnhardt Jr.
recently. MTV is also staffing all remaining Winston Cup
races for the 2000 season and will air its documentary at
the end of the season (ThatsRacin.com, 9/17).
