NO BULL: EIGHT-TEAM RODEO LEAGUE HAS PLANS FOR 2001

Major League Bull Riding (MLBR) will "join the
seemingly endless proliferation of professional sports by
establishing" teams in eight cities in 2001, with one of its
"targets" being Dallas, if the league can find an investor
"willing to put up" $1M or more, according to Richard Alm of
the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. The MLBR is the "brainchild" of
CEO Terry Andrade and livestock coordinator Steve Katich.
The league plans a 16-game schedule in 2001, and it
"eventually wants to expand" to 16 teams. Alm adds that in
addition to Dallas, Houston and San Antonio "also are under
consideration" for teams, and venues "will be chosen once
owners are in the fold." MLBR "is offering a guaranteed
minimum" salary of $40,000 (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/19).
